TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 5: Deputy opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that Dr Qadeer Khan was forced to give a confession statement and called it an insult of both the nuclear scientist and the nation.

He said at a public meeting on Kashmir Day on Thursday at Malkanwala Chowk in Gojra that President Gen Musharraf and the federal government defamed the country.

He regretted that the general did not even bother that the issue would provide the US and its allies a chance to attack Iran, Libya and Korea.

Former MNA of PML-N M. Hamza said Dr Qadeer has been made a scapegoat to save the army generals involved in the proliferation of nuclear technology to other countries.

He said it was a pity that parliament was not being taken into confidence on this very important issue and the matters were being decided by the federal cabinet or army generals.

The meeting adopted a resolution demanding quashment of cases registered against Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and permission for Nawaz Sharif family to return.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed and his four family members injured in an accident on Wednesday near Gojra.

Saeed Khan was going to Faisalabad from Multan by his car along with his family. When they reached near Gojra-Toba bypass, a speeding bus hit his car as a result of which Saeed died on the spot while his wife, father and two children sustained serious injuries.

The injured were admitted to the Gojra THQ hospital in critical condition.
