SARGODHA, April 19: The US Consulate presented over 1,000 books to the Sargodha University on Tuesday. Presenting 1,286 books valued up to $48,366 to the university, US Consulate Public Affairs Officer Rex Moser said his country had a longstanding commitment to spreading the ideals and values of American democracy and civil society to foreign audiences and to engage and maintain an open dialogue with people throughout the world.

He said this donation was a step forward in support of higher education and would benefit students and faculty for years to come.

The books relate to subjects including journalism, human rights, philosophy, psychology, democracy, US government, economics and development, law, English language, business management, applied sciences and computers.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Riazul Haq Tariq thanked the US Consulate, and said it was a goodwill gesture from the government and people of America to the students of this region, and it would be cherished for a long time to come.

He said it would help in getting knowledge and improving the education standards.
