SUKKUR, April 13: Activists of the Sindh National Party held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against the division of Hyderabad. They raised slogans against the Sindh government and the chief minister. Speaking on the occasion, their leaders, Adam Khan Sarohi and Abbas Bhambhro, said the division of Hyderabad was a challenge for Sindhi people because the decision had been taken to please a particular ethnic group.

They observed that the decision would widen the gap between Sindhi and Urdu speaking people which could harm interests of Sindh.

They called for a joint struggle against the division of the district.

They warned that a protest movement would be launched throughout Sindh if the decision was not withdrawn.

Meanwhile, about 50 activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party observed an eight-hour token hunger strike in front of the press club here on Wednesday against the division of Hyderabad.

Activists from Sukkur, Rohri, Kandhra, Ali Wahan and other areas participated in the hunger strike.

Speaking on the occasion, STPP leader Nazir Soomro observed that the division of Hyderabad could harm the harmony between Sindhi and Urdu speaking people.

He maintained that the chief minister had taken the decision to perpetuate his rule.

He said his party could continue the struggle till the decision was cancelled.

SDO THRASHED: Hesco employees belonging to Ghotki, Khangarh and the adjoining areas observed a tool down strike on Tuesday following the maltreatment of SDO Hesco, Ghotki, Merajuddin Shaikh, by the personnel of the Pakistan Rangers.
