GILGIT, April 13: The Northern Areas police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested five proclaimed offenders reportedly involved in the Jan-8 incident of violence in Gilgit. The suspects were nabbed during checking at the exit points. They were identified as Murad Ali, Sadiq, Aqeel, Itrat and Waseem. The violence had claimed 17 lives and the deceased included top Shia leader Agha Ziauddin Rizvi who succumbed to injuries in a military hospital in Rawalpindi three days later.

TWO MISSING: Two people of Hatoon village have been missing for the last four days.

People in the village said they had not have contact with the missing people for a week.

They had been in the pastures along with their herds when heavy snowfall and rains struck the district.

Meanwhile, three ibexes were killed by avalanches during snowfall and rains in Ghizer district. Durdana Sher, a local journalist, said she had seen bodies of many animals lying scattered all over the village.
