KARACHI, April 8: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has expressed his concern over complaints regarding the unannounced load-shedding and frequent power breakdowns in the city.

He talked to Managing Director of the KESC Tariq Saddozai and reminded him that SSC examinations were in progress these days and the students had to do a lot of study in this regard. The nazim told him that suspension of power supply was badly disturbing them and could affect their results also.

He told the KESC executive that he was constantly receiving power breakdown complaints from various areas, particularly Federal B Area, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad and Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He said many of the complainants appeared to be parents of the students who were deeply worried about future of their children.

The city nazim asked the KESC MD to immediately redress the problems being faced by power consumers and ensure an uninterrupted power supply to all parts of the city.

IT centre: The city government is planning to set up an IT training centre at its secretariat at the Civic Centre. It is likely to be formally inaugurated in this month.

The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, said this on Friday while visiting the city government’s IT department. He later chaired a meeting to review development work initiated by the city government.

The nazim was apprised about the IT department’s performance and development projects in the city.

He was told that the records of residential plots, births and deaths in the city were being computerized. Online tenders were being offered for the purpose.

Mr Niamat, on the occasion, directed officials to upgrade the record of retired employees for immediate payment of pension and other dues to them.

He also instructed the IT department officials to computerize the record of the city government employees so as to make the process of seniority transparent.—APP/PPI
