HYDERABAD, April 5: The status of 794 development schemes to be completed at a cost of Rs1471 million under different development portfolios was discussed at a meeting here on Monday. DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed presided over the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the DCO called upon executing agencies to ensure full utilization of the funds by the end of June 2005 to complete the schemes within stipulated period. He said the bottlenecks if any in the development work would be solved on the priority basis. District officer (roads) Zafar Jatoi said of 53 development schemes taken into hand at a total cost of Rs297 million under the ADP 2004-05, 23 schemes had been completed while work on remaining 30 schemes was in progress.
He said 55 per cent progress had been achieved in this portfolio.
He said under the development portfolio of nazims of 104 UCs, schemes were taken in hand at the cost of Rs140 million of which 59 schemes had been completed while work on 45 schemes was in progress as such progress of this portfolio had been achieved upto 89 per cent.
Mr Jatoi said under the Sugar Cess Development Fund 147 schemes were implemented at the cost of 239 million of which 114 schemes were completed while remaining 33 schemes were in progress.
He said some problems in the release of development funds were being experienced in this development portfolio.
Mr Jatoi said 22 abandoned development schemes were also being implemented at an annual allocation of Rs40 million and progress of this portfolio was 40 per cent.
The executive engineer of the public health engineering, Mohammad Ali Waryah, informed the meeting that 39 development schemes of water supply and drainage were taken into hand at the cost of Rs24.8 million and all had been completed.
DO education Nusrat Pervaiz Mughal said of 29 development schemes taken in hand at the cost of Rs377 million, 12 had been completed while work on remaining 17 schemes was in progress as such 48 per cent progress had been achieved.
The DCO was given briefing about the status of development schemes taken in hand under the Khushal Pakistan Programme Phase-III and Phase-IV.
He was told that 295 development schemes were taken into hand under the development portfolio of the KPP Phase-III at the cost of Rs270.9, of which 286 schemes were got completed by utilizing Rs264.8.
The work on 105 development schemes of phase-IV was carried out at the cost of Rs82.2324 million out of which 96 schemes were completed.
