Published March 21, 2005

KARACHI, March 20: Speakers at a meeting on Sunday urged women to join hands for their rights guaranteed by religion and the constitution. Speaking at the meeting organized by the Working Women Organization Trust, they stressed that people, while living within their religious and cultural boundaries, should try to work for the progress of society.

They said that religion had guaranteed many rights to women but these were being held hostage by socio-cultural traditions.

They also highlighted the role that women had been playing in the development of society and the country. Rehana Shah, Razia Sultana and others also spoke.
