KARACHI, March 20: The sprawling localities of UC-12, especially those on the Suparco Road are facing great difficulties due to the absence of any transport scheme for the area. The road from Mosamyat Chowrangi to the Super Highway houses dozens of apartment buildings and houses, besides the thickly populated slums of Sachal, Ayub, Seeta, and Mohammad Khan goths, and the residential colonies of Suparco, the Health Department, the Dow University of Health Sciences, the University of Karachi and the PCSIR.

Besides residents, thousands of employees of the PCSIR laboratories, Suparco, Ojha Ram Sanatorium, the DUHS and the Institute of Behavioural Sciences daily come to their offices here after changing more than one bus.

Presently, a few minibuses are plying, but their routes are mainly directed towards Orangi and Baldia. There is no route for any bus, coach or vehicles of the Urban Transport Scheme.

There is also no route that leads to areas like the JPMC hospital, Cantonment Station, Clifton, Sharea Faisal, Malir Cantonment, Khokhrapar, Landhi, Korangi, New Sabzi Mandi, Sohrab Goth, Lee Market, Keamari, Mehmoodabad, Dockyard, Defence, Garden, Teen Hatti, Lasbella, Nazimabad, New Karachi and many more.

Residents have demanded of the government to approve bus routes for the area.—PPI
