HYDERABAD, March 18: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro visited the Sindhi Adabi Board here on Friday and inspected the book house, printing press, ancient manuscripts and books written on the history and literature of Sindh. He was welcomed by the vice-chairman of the board, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who is also the vice chancellor of the Sindh University, secretary of the Board, Inamullah Shaikh and the Board employees.

The secretary of the Board briefed the Senate chairman about the performance and activities of the institution. Expressing satisfaction over the working of the board, the Senate chairman assured that he will personally contact the international organisations and apprise them of the literary and historical works undertaken by the Board for extending cooperation in joint ventures to make the board self-sufficient.

He urged the intellectuals and scholars to make efforts for disseminating information throughout the world about the history and literature of Sindh. He also discussed matters relating to the Board with the members of the Board of Governors, Agha Saleem, Dr Habibullah Siddiqui, Imdad Hussaini and Shaukat Shoro.

Our Dadu correspondent adds: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro has said that the army was not carrying out any operation in Balochistan but all of sudden tension erupted there. He was talking to journalists at the Mazar of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz on Friday. He said that the governor’s rule will not be imposed in the province as the Sindh government was working properly.

Replying to a question, Mr Soomro said that the PTV Hyderabad office would not be closed and he would talk to concerned authorities.

Earlier, the Senate Chairman visited different parts of Mazar and was briefed about the ongoing work at the Mazar. He offered fateha and laid floral wreaths at the Mazar of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz.
