HYDERABAD, March 12: Hundreds of men and women peasants under the banner of Sindh Green Rural Development Organization staged a demonstration outside the press club on Saturday.
They had reached the city after marching on foot for 12 days from Jhuddo town.
They were given a rousing reception at the Fateh Chowk by activists of human rights organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the Green Rural Development Organization, Ghulam Hussain, criticized the feudal lords for keeping the tillers hostage.
He accused a big spiritual leader of Sindh of sheltering human rights violators.
He demanded that the government should recover family members of Mannu Bheel from captivity of a feudal lord in Sanghar district.
Veteran leader Jam Saqi said if unlawful compulsory labour and human rights violations were not checked, the country would receive a telling blow in exports.
The coordinator of the Special Task Force, HRCP Sindh, Nasreen Shakeel Pathan, the central coordinator of the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad, Juma Khan Roonja, the president of the Roshan Khayal Zamindar Tanzeem, Mitho Khan, Sindh National Council leader Punhal Sario, national Workers Party leader Usman Baloch and Azad Hari Union president Laljee Kolhi spoke on the occasion.
They urged the people not to vote for those in the next elections who were committing atrocities against peasants.
