KARACHI, March 12: Two maid servants were killed by a male servant of the same house in Defence Housing Authority on Saturday.

Police said Rehan was hired by the family some three months back. On Saturday, he along with his two friends entered the house in Phase-I, locked the owner, Mrs Shahnaz, in a room.

They strangulated Rani who was in the servant’s room on the first floor. SHO Defence Zia Hasan told Dawn that Rani was working at the house since last 40 years.

After killing her, they went to the kitchen and stabbed Shanti, who was also recently hired by the family. Shanti died on the spot due to profuse bleeding.

After killing the two servants, the suspects collected cash and other gold ornaments from the house and fled.

Police raided the house of Rehan in Moosa Colony, and took into custody Najma who had helped Rehan in getting the job at the house. Police are making raids for the arrest of the three suspects.

The SHO that he was carrying out an exercise to get the domestic servants registered at the police station.

He said if people would cooperate with the police, incidents of house robberies could be discouraged.

YOUTH KILLED: Two young men were killed by unknown persons, and their bullet- riddled bodies were recovered from Mauripur on Saturday morning.

Police said the bodies were recovered from a vacant plot near old truck stand in Mauripur.

The bodies were trussed up and the victims were shot in the head. An identity card recovered from a victim turned out to be a fake one.

Police shifted the bodies to JPMC for post-mortem.

GUNNED DOWN: A Naib Nazim was gunned down by unknown persons in Old Golimar late Friday night.

Police said Abdul Ghaffar, 35, had come from Mekran to his aunt’s home with his ailing mother for her treatment.

As he was standing in the street in Hasan Auliya Village late on Friday night, unknown gunmen on a motorcycle pulled up and shot at him. He was taken to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

BURNT: Three vehicles were partially gutted when they were set on fire by unknown persons near Hub River Road early Saturday morning.

Police said two trucks and a private car were partially damaged in the fire. The incident took place at Haji Mohammad Mangi Goth located off Hub River Road.

The fire was put out on self-help basis by the owners. SHO Mangopir Adnan Shahid attributed the incident to some family feud.

He said that complainant Mohammad Anwar had lodged an FIR against unknown persons. Police have arrested Saifur Rehman and Samad Khan who are brother and nephew of the complainant.
