HYDERABAD, Feb 21: Ashura was observed in a peaceful atmosphere throughout interior Sindh on Sunday. Strict security arrangements had been made by police and Rangers in Hyderabad.

Police had been deployed in and around main routes of mourning processions. Main thoroughfares from the Qadam Gah Maula Ali to Karbala Dadan Shah remained closed for general public as barbed wires had been placed on the entire route. The mourning processions started at around 10am and continued till 4pm, culminating at the Karbala Dadan Shah. These were followed by Tazia and Zuljinah processions from the Tilak Incline.

The anti-riot police force gave cover to the mourning processions. Some altercation was witnessed between participants of Tazia and Matami processions near the Sultan Hotel as the two sides insisted on first passage. Police intervened in the matter and ensured smooth passage of the processions.

In another incident, bickering was witnessed between two groups of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement over a camp at the Tilak Incline. Party zonal in charge Siraj Rajput and zonal committee members MNA Khalid Wahab and others rushed to the spot and settled the matter.

NAWABSHAH: Ashura was observed in the district in a peaceful manner. Speakers at Majalis highlighted sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain and paid tribute to him.

Processions taken out from different places joined the main procession started from the Murtazvi Imam Bargah Mohini Bazaar and after passing through various routes returned back to the Murtazvi Imam Bargah.

Azadars performed Matam at the Mohini Bazaar, Masjid Road, Chakra Bazaar and the Phatak Road. The injured were provided medical aid at camps set up by the MQM. Majalis of Sham-i-Ghariban were held at Murtazvi and Hussainiya Sajjadia Imam Bargahs.

DADU: Zuljinah processions were taken out in Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi, Sehwan and Dadu to observe Ashura. The main procession was taken out from the central Imam Bargah.

MIRPURKHAS: Over two dozen processions were taken out amidst tight security in the city on Ashura. The processions gathered at the railway station chowk after passing through different roads of the city. Marsia and religious speeches were delivered by Zakirs in the processions.
