HYDERABAD, Feb 19: The secretary-general of the People's Labour Bureau, Khwaja Mohammad Awan, has criticised proposed bifurcation of Hyderabad district on ethnic lines.

Speaking at a meeting of the bureau here on Saturday, he said that Sindh was in the grip of lawlessness and murders, kidnappings, highway robberies, banditries and other heinous crimes had become the order of the day in the province. He said that price hike and unemployment had increased by over 100 per cent but the Sindh government was engaged in internecine disputes on non-issues.

Mr Awan said that the real powers were in the hands of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement which, on the one hand, was criticising the feudal system and, on the other, was ruling the province as a coalition partner of feudal lords.

He said the exploitative forces were supporting the rulers on the issue of the Industrial Relation Ordinance 2002 and urged the working class to unite and launch a joint struggle for their rights.

LITERACY: The Sindh Development Society, in collaboration with the Education Sector Reforms Assistance and USAID, has decided to provide education to 2,500 elderly people in three union councils of Tando Allahyar taluka under the Education for All Programme.
