KARACHI: Safety of graveyards

KARACHI, Feb 17: Sindh Chief Secretary Mohammad Aslam Sanjrani has asked all the DCOs to ensure safety and reverence of graveyards in their respective districts, besides saving them from encroachments and filth.

Taking a notice of growing encroachments and overflowing of drain water in the Chinigi graveyard, Shikarpur, the chief secretary asked the DCO concerned to take an action against the elements responsible.

He also asked the DCOs to take measures regarding the provision of light, water and drainage facilities at graveyards, besides repairing their inner paths and roads.

The chief secretary on the complaint of social leaders, Haji Mohammad Shafi Khan and Haji Mohammad Ayub Allori, asked the Auqaf department to ensure the provision of all civic facilities at all shrines from Dargah Shah Aqique to Dargah Mangho Pir. He also asked the department to ensure the provision of potable water and disposal of drainage water at all shrines. -PPI
