HARIPUR, Feb 2: A schoolgirl was criminally assaulted by four persons in the Tarbela colony in Ghazi near here.

Ghazi police said on Tuesday that the 14-year-old schoolgirl of the Chandani Chowk Mohalla, Tarbela colony, had lodged a complaint that she was on her way to school on January 29 when two persons - Abid and Qayyum - forcibly put her in a car and took her to a deserted place.

The accused, who were joined by two other persons, assaulted her, the police said. The girl told police that she had tried to keep quite out of fear and shame for the family, but had to disclose the ordeal to her mother after three days.

The police said that the rape victim, who is a student of grade 5, was examined by a lady doctor, who had confirmed the assault. The police claimed to have arrested the four accused, but did not disclose their names.
