HYDERABAD: MNA demands removal of DCO

Published February 2, 2005

HYDERABAD, Feb 1: People's Party Parliamentarians MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has demanded immediate removal of the Jamshoro DCO. In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Monday, he warned that his party would launch a protest movement against the DCO if he was not replaced.

He regretted that the DCO was not even prepared to meet PPP legislators. Mr Talpur alleged that controversial officers were being appointed in the Jamshoro district before the coming local bodies' elections to corner the PPP.

He said employees of 15 union councils of the Kotri taluka were not getting their salaries on time and more than 100 teachers had been posted in Jamshoro by giving them 'illegal' promotions.

The PPP leader demanded that President Gen Pervez Musharraf should take notice of the prevailing situation in Jamshoro and protect rights of people given to them following creation of the district.
