KARACHI, Jan 30: A young man was killed by his friend over a petty dispute in the limits of Sachal police station late on Saturday night.

Police said that Kalamuddin, 22, had gone to Fancy View Apartments located near Sohrab Goth where after exchange of words Jehangir and his brother opened fire at him.

The wounded victim was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead. Police said that the suspects fled following the incident.

BODY FOUND: The body of a middle-aged man was recovered from a nullah in the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area on Sunday morning. Police said that an unknown caller informed the police station about a body lying in a nullah near D-8 bus stop.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post mortem examination. According to the police, the victim had apparently died from head injury inflicted with a blunt weapon. Following the legal formalities at the hospital, his body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.

OUR THATTA CORRESPONDENT ADDS: Three people were killed and seven others were injured in a head-on collision between a rashly-driven passenger coach and a car in front of the shrine of Pir Mohammad Ali in Makli here on Sunday evening.

Those killed were identified as car driver Ali, son of Mohammad Siddiq; Hammad, 14, son of Abdul Hameed; and a child, Nasir, son of Abdul Hameed. Ahmad, son of Abdul Hameed; Waleed, son of Abdul Hameed; Zakia, daughter of Abdul Hameed; Anila, daughter of Gul Mohammad; Anisa, daughter of Gul Mohammad; Fehmida, daughter of Abdul Ghani and a child, Naveed, were injured in the accident.

Fehmida and Anisa are said to be in critical condition. The injured were shifted from the Makli Civil Hospital to a hospital in Karachi. The Makli police told this correspondent that a family of Malir was returning back to Karachi in the car after visiting the Makli necropolis when the car collided with the Badin-bound Shandar Coach on the National Highway. Police have registered an FIR.
