GUJRANWALA, Jan 19: A trader was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists at a garments hosiery market here on Wednesday while shopkeepers observed shutdown in protest against the killing of their colleague and demanded arrest of outlaws within the next 24 hours.

Reports said Muhammad Wasim was on his way to mosque for offering Isha prayers when some motorcyclists opened fire on him. As a result he died on the spot while the accused escaped after leaving their bike on the spot.

Later, traders gathered there and protested against the incident. They chanted slogans against the police for poor law and order and demanded that killer(s) be arrested soon.

However, the senior police officers reached the spot and pacified the protesters. Meanwhile, three passers by were injured when the gun of a jeweller's guard suddenly went off at Sarafan Bazaar here on Wednesday.
