SAHIWAL: Case against SHO, two others

SAHIWAL, Jan 16: A case was registered against Kassowal SHO and two other policemen on Sunday for releasing a PO after taking bribe from him. The ACE had arrested food department employee Nazir Ahmed for taking bribe.

He was released on bail but didn't appear in court. A special judge of ACE of Multan camp at Sahiwal declared him as PO. However, complainant Mazhar Husain helped the Kassowal police in arresting Nazir Ahmad.

On Dec 16, the SHO released the PO after accepting from him Rs10,000. The complainant informed the ACE judge who ordered the registration of a case against SHO Rafiq, muharrer Akhtar and a constable. The judge directed the police to produce the accused policemen before court on next hearing date on Jan 27.

ARRESTED: Farid Town police on Sunday held four PML workers for displaying and keeping illegal arms at Chak 97/6-R. Those arrested were Aslam, Munir Hussain, Khalid Hussain and Aslam.

The armed accused had reportedly gone to occupy a piece of disputed land when the police raided there and arrested them. Police also recovered a 7mm rifle, three guns, a pistol and a large number of cartridges.

The suspects have been sent to jail after registration of a case. Meanwhile, the local police claimed to have arrested 14 proclaimed offenders and 16 court absconders during a general hold up here on Sunday.
