HYDERABAD: Poetry collection launched

HYDERABAD, Jan 15: Sindh Secretary for Information Mehtab Akbar Rashdi has said that the Sindhi society has started accepting the role of women in every walk of life.

She was speaking as chief guest at the book launching ceremony of poetry collection "Dil Pathar Ta Na Ahey" written by Akhtar Afroze Shah here on Friday.

Ms Rashdi said woman was the creator of the Sindhi society and deserved respectable place in family and society. She said it was really laudable that Akhtar Afroze Shah, who even did not receive formal education, expressed her thoughts through her poetic work.

She praised sensitive observations of the poet on all aspects of social evils like karo-kari, young generation and women emancipation. Sindh University vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui appreciated the work of poetess and said Afroze Shah could be a source of inspiration for other women. He said her poetic work was a good addition in the Sindhi poetry.

The chairman of the Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, Syed Qamar-uz-Zaman Shah, said women of today should demand their recognition in society. He said without participation of women development of society was impossible.

Akhtar Afroze Shah said appreciation of her poetry was very encouraging for her. She praised the efforts of Syed Qamar-uz-Zaman Shah and her family who had not only supported her but helped in the publication of book. Noorul Hudda Shah, Ghulam Mohammad Umrani, Imdad Hussaini, Naseer Mirza and Sahar Imdad Hussaini also spoke on the occasion.

LECTURE: Visiting expert from the Gartner Inc. USA, Mr Asim Kaghzi, delivered a lecture at the Institute of Information Technology, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, on Saturday.

The theme of the lecture was characteristics of "online transaction proceeding". He said the online transaction procedure was dynamic and interactive. He underlined challenges such as reliability, performance and security faced by such systems.
