KARACHI, Jan 6: The Sindh High Court has issued notice to the Advocate-General Sindh, secretary ministry of defence and naval officials for Jan 20 on a petition challenging the detention of an Imam of mosque by the navy authorities.

Shoaib Ahmed alleged in the petition that his relative, Moulvi Mohammad Ashraf, who is also running a seminary Ummahatul Momineen Al-Banat, was taken away by the Naval officials from his residence at Haroon Beharia Cooperative Housing Society on Nov 17, 2004, and till now his whereabouts are still unknown.

His counsel Maqboolur Rehman said that Qari Naveed and Saleh were also arrested with Moulvi Ashraf, who after their release confirmed that the naval officials were present where they were detained.

He said that the detenue was in danger. He prayed court to the court to order the production of the detenue and release him if not involved in any case. -PPI
