SARGODHA, Jan 2: The crime graph remained on the higher side in the four districts of the Sargodha police range in the year 2004.

As per reports, around 193 people became victims of old enmity while a few of them lost their lives in honour killings in the Sargodha district.

As many as 200 people were killed in road accidents. Besides, some 30 police encounters also took place during the period. At least 68 cases of rape and nine gang-rapes were also reported during the year.

About 187 women were abducted while two traders were kidnapped for ransom. Around one dozen people committed suicide and 10 others attempted to take their lives. Police registered 389 cattle theft cases besides 60 dacoity, 37 car-lifting and 104 motorcycle theft cases during the period.

In Khushab district, some 43 people lost their lives in rivalry and about 30 in road accidents. As many as 42 women were abducted while eight rape cases were registered in 2004.

Police registered 30 cases of highway robbery, besides seven dacoity, 65 burglary, 19 cattle-lifting, three motorbike-lifting and 89 theft cases. In Bhakkar district, about 31 people were murdered while 33 others perished in road mishaps. Similarly, 45 abduction and 48 rape cases were lodged with the police.

In addition, some 75 theft, five dacoity, one car-snatching and eight motorbike-lifting incidents occurred during the previous year.

In Mianwali district, at least 86 people were murdered and 30 others died on road. Besides, three police encounter also happened in the district.
