KOHAT, Dec 10: A controversy about the possession of a primary school functioning in the building of the Regional Institute for Teachers Education has been resolved after the provincial education ministry directed the district government to shift the school to the Sherpao building.

The ministry also directed the school staff to report to their original organizations from where they were drawing their salaries as the primary schools functioning in the RITE building were unauthorized and illegal. Construction of two rooms in the Sherpao building for the convenience of students has also been suggested.

In his order, the provincial planning officer while referring to the discussions held at a meeting presided over by the provincial education minister, said the middle-level English model school operating in the RITE building should remain in its present place and would be gradually upgraded up to the Intermediate level.

It may be recalled that RITE teachers had met NWFP Governor Lt-Gen (retd) Iftikhar Hussain last week after the district council nazims tried to shift them to a primary school building.

The district government wanted to run two primary schools in the RITE building, which had been opened without the prior permission of the education department. The governor had directed the education secretary to sort out the problem keeping in view problems of both students of primary schools and that of the RITE staff.
