GILGIT: Two sisters kidnapped

GILGIT, Dec 10: Two sisters were kidnapped allegedly by their relatives here on Thursday, the Cantonment police told Dawn. Bakht Jehan, 20, and her younger sister Gul Juma were kidnapped allegedly by their uncle Jhanda Khan , his sons Nadir Hussain and Dara and seven other accomplices, Mohammad Jan, the father of the girls, told the police while lodging an FIR with the Cantonment police.

The Cantonment police had sent a team to Khunbari valley in Darel tehsil to arrest the kidnappers and recover the girls, the police said. According to Mohammad Jan, Bakht Jehan had been married to one of his nephews, Nadir Hussain, but took divorce from him some 10 months back.

The main accused, Jhanda Khan, came to the house of Mohammad Jan to seek the hand of the younger daughter of Gul Juma for his younger son Dara. The police said Jhanda and his sons along with seven others allegedly kidnapped Bakth Jehan and Gul Juma in night.
