KARACHI, Dec 7: Offices of Sunni Tehreek and Jamaat Islami were set on fire by unknown persons in Lines Area early on Monday morning, police said.

The two offices were torched in the aftermath of a firing incident in which an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot at near Enquiry Office, Lines Area.

Police said that the victim identified as Babar was sitting near the Enquiry Office when he was shot at by two armed men. He was taken to the JPMC for treatment. Later, some activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement lodged an FIR at the Brigade police station nominating some members of the Sunni Tehreek.

Shortly afterwards, the office of Sunni Tehreek located near the Enquiry Office was set on fire by unknown suspects who managed to escape. In a similar manner, the office of Jamaat Islami located on Nizami Road was set on fire.

The SHO Brigade police station said that the JI had lodged an FIR against unknown suspects for torching their office. However, the Sunni Tehreek was yet to lodge any FIR, he added.

BODY FOUND: The body of a young man was found from bushes in a desolated place in Gulistan-i-Jauhar's Block-10 on Tuesday. Police said that the unidentified victim was in his mid 30's.

His body bearing torture marks was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post mortem examination. Following the autopsy examination, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification, police said.
