HARIPUR, Dec 2: The Tehsil council has approved Rs9 million worth of uplift projects to be undertaken under the 2004-05 Annual Development Programme.

The council, in a recent meeting held with convener Amin Khan Badhora in the chair, endorsed the decision of levy of fire tax on units in the Hattar Industrial Estate.

The council had proposed a total of 193 schemes to be carried out in 37 union councils of Haripur Tehsil. After minor changes in the proposals, the house approved the schemes unanimously.

The council gave approval to levy of fire tax on industries of Hattar in compliance with the provincial government's directives with the convener referring the matter to the house finance committee to determine the rate of the tax.

The house agreed to fix Rs6,000 honorarium each for the municipal magistrate and legal adviser of the tehsil municipal administration and deployment of police at girls schools.

Earlier, tehsil nazim Iftikhar Ahmad Khan informed the house that the 'black top area' of the old bus stand would be got vacated from pushcart owners under an agreement reached with them.
