LARKANA: AIDS Day observed in Sindh

LARKANA, Dec 1: A walk and a workshop were held here on Wednesday to mark the World AIDS Day. Speaking at the end of the walk, DCO Abdul Razaq Qureshi urged the youth to come forward and join fight against the AIDS and said that every section of society could play its role in fight against the disease.

He said 2,500 people had been affected by the disease in the country. Medical Superintendent of the Chandka Medical College Hospital Dr Syed Mehboob Ali Shah said that the CMCH was providing treatment to 86 AIDS patients.

President of the Mehran Welfare Trust Mohammad Panjal Sangi, Dr Ghulam Shabir Shaikh and Dr Akbar Ali Soomro also spoke on the occasion. The Public School Larkana arranged a workshop on AIDS for the grown up girl students.

Dr Farooq Rehman Soomro, pathologist Dr Soomro, the in-charge of AIDS surveillance centre, CMCH, Dr Ghulam Shabir Shaikh, and Dr Ghulam Serwar Shaikh of the AIDS control programme told the participants about the disease.

DADU: A walk was organized by the Kachho Cultural and Development Organisation in Johi to spread awareness about AIDS. A seminar was organized in Johi by the Madadgar, an NGO.
