KOHAT, Nov 21: The provincial government has decided that students of two primary schools and the Regional Institute for Teachers Education will share the same building.

It was learnt that the provincial government had taken exception to allegations levelled by the staff of the RITE against the district nazim.

The director, schools and literacy, Fazal Manan, settled the issue during his visit on Saturday. Under the new set-up, the schools and the RITE would remain in the same building. The schools would be managed by the RITE staff and they would also coach the students there.

This was decided at a meeting attended by the DCO, Arshad Majeed, assistant DCO, Khudadad Khan Mahsud, district education officer, nazim Dr Matiullah Shah and district nazim Malik Asad.

Malik Asad said that the district government had opened two primary schools in the building when all elementary institutes were closed by the MMA government. When the provincial government decided to reopen the institutes under a new name - RITE - more than 450 children had already enrolled in the two primary schools.

Accusing the staff of making false propaganda against the district government, Mr Asad blamed them for attacking the delegation which had gone to the institute to settle the matter of its possession.

The district nazim said that instructors had politicised the whole issue and he could not even think about abusing women. He said that problems faced by women instructors would be solved in a decent manner but they should also behave like teachers and refrain from interfering in government affairs. He termed allegations about attack on the institute and police action as baseless, concocted and politically-motivated.
