KARACHI, Nov 5: An entrance test for admissions to BPA and MPA in Karachi University will be held on Sunday (Nov 7) at 10am. The list of successful candidates along with interview schedule will be placed on Nov 11 at Silver Jubilee Gate at 3pm while group discussion and interviews with selected candidates will be held from Nov 20 to 25 between 12pm to 4pm.

A list of finally selected candidates will be issued on Nov 30 and they will be asked to submit fee from Dec 1 to 7 while classes will start from Jan 1 next.

BDS EXAMS: The second and final professional BDS supplementary examination of the dental colleges affiliated with the University of Karachi will commence on Nov 22 and 23 respectively. The detailed programme will be notified later.

Memorial library: Dr Ahmed Ali Anwar Memorial Library is being set up at the Department of Microbiology, University of Karachi. This is a tribute to Prof Dr Anwar who is considered as the father of microbiology in Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui will performed the inauguration of the library on Nov 8. Prof. Anwar was the founding chairman of this department which he headed till 1972.

The first PhD in microbiology in Pakistan was also produced under his guidance. The Pakistan Society for Microbiology is also planning to hold an international seminar in memory of Prof. Anwar to highlight the contribution of the deceased towards the discipline of microbiology.

ESSAY CONTEST: A short essay or story competition on 'Identity' is being organised by Karachi University, in collaboration with the British Council. As many as 20 students of Karachi University from various teaching departments will participate in the contest.

The competition will be held on Nov 9 at 9.30am at the council room of the faculty of science. This is the second phase of the programme of "Cross-cultural students dialogue project of the British Council". -PPI/APP
