SAHIWAL, Oct 22: Three family members were killed while their servant and bus driver sustained serious injuries in an accident on GT Road here late on Thursday night.

Widow Mumtaz Bibi, her nephew Safdar Hussain and niece Shagufta were returning to Sargodha from Sahiwal by their car (LOH-5337). Near the Wapda grid station, their car was hit by a speeding bus (ND-1265) coming from the opposite direction.

As a result, all the three died on the spot while their servant Abbas Haider and bus driver Pervez suffered critical injuries. Grain Market police took the injured bus driver into custody and registered a case against him.

RELEASED: Three leaders of Okara farms association were released from the central jail on Friday after the completion of their three months detention period.

Muhammad Altaf, Ghulam Rasool and Gulzar Ahmad were detained for three months under 3-MPO on the orders of the Punjab home secretary. Earlier, journalist Mujahid Sarwar had also been released after the completion of his one-month detention period.

LOOTED: Armed robbers in three different strikes looted cash, valuables and snatched a car and a motorcycle here on Friday. Armed bandits snatched a taxi cab (MNH-2317) from its driver Hanif near Harappa.

Patwari Abdul Rashid was deprived of his new motorcycle, a mobile phone and Rs14,000 in cash by robbers on CCI Road. Two armed robbers snatched a golden locket from Mirza Hamid in Kamir Town. Police have registered separate cases.
