NEW DELHI, Oct 14: Pakistan and India on Thursday signed a nine-point agreement to foster cooperation between the border forces, intensify efforts to check trans-border crimes and strengthen patrolling and surveillance to check illegal crossing.

The accord was signed at the end of four days of talks between Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers in Chandigarh. Pakistani delegation was led by Maj-Gen Javed Zia while the Indian side was headed by Additional DGP, A.K. Mitra.

Addressing a joint press conference later, Maj-Gen Javed Zia, Director-General, Pakistan Rangers and Additional DGP, (BSF), A.K. Mitra, they said both the sides had agreed on joint efforts to check trans-border crimes, especially drug smuggling and to exchange lists of smugglers, facilitate return of inadvertent border crossers after verification in the quickest possible time. -APP
