GUJRANWALA, Oct 5: Regional Transport Authority Secretary Sikander Zulqarnain admitted that people were facing inconvenience after the withdrawal of 480 wagons for launching the franchized bus service in the city under the government policy.

Speaking at a news conference at a hotel here on Tuesday, he said the government would provide more facilities to commuters after increasing the buses on local route.

He categorically refused to allow wagons owners to ply their vehicles on the GT Road and pointed out that route permits of these wagons stood cancelled. Mr Zulqarnain said the franchized bus service would be launched in Sialkot and extended up to Wazirabad soon. He assured that about 10 more buses would be run till Oct 15.

Meanwhile, about 200 wagons owners demonstrated against the RTA secretary outside the hotel and chanted slogans for rendering hundreds of peoples jobless. They demanded restoration of their route permits.
