LAHORE: Robbers shoot woman

LAHORE, Oct 4: Robbers and thieves on Monday shot at and wounded a woman in eight successful strikes in different parts of the city. Waqar Ahmad of Manawan told police that three gunmen stormed into his house and held up inmates. They shot at and wounded his mother Zainab Bibi who put up resistance.

The gangsters then collected cash and jewellery and escaped. However, villagers chased, caught one of them and handed him over to police. Mrs Arshad Saeed told police that she and four other women of her family returned from a wedding party.

Soon their car reached close to their house in Karim Block, Allama Iqbal Town, four armed men held them hostage. Mrs Saeed said the miscreants snatched gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 250,000 from them and escaped on two motorcycles.

Two motorcycles (LRF-4889 and LRE-4971) were snatched from Gulshan-i-Ravi and Shahdara while another (DGA-3968) was stolen from Qurban Police Lines. Two cars (LXZ-2988 and LXW-7834) were driven away from Mughalpura and Shadman.
