RAWALPINDI, Sept 29: Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal and Minister of State for Defence Zahid Hamid was given a briefing on the shifting of General Headquarters (GHQ) and Ministry of Defence from Rawalpindi to Islamabad here on Wednesday.

A senior official from the GHQ gave a detailed presentation about the shifting plan and briefed the ministers about the development work on the project. He apprised them that the new sites for the GHQ and the ministry would be equipped with all modern facilities, including educational and recreational, and a university would also be established with the help of Fauji Foundation.

Earlier, Director-General of Survey of Pakistan Maj-Gen Jamil Afridi gave a presentation regarding the digitalisation of maps of the country so as to ensure accurate mapping. In this regard, arrangements will be made for satellite imagery and aerial photography. The ministers lauded the efforts of Survey.
