KARACHI, Sept 28: Second seed Inayat Khosla and fourth seed Yee Chit Su cruised into the second round of the Karachi Club ITF junior tennis championship when they had easy victories in the girls singles played on Tuesday at the Karachi Club.

Inayat was just too strong for local girl Naima Mukhtar who lost 6-0, 6-0. Myanmar's top girls' player Yee Chit Sho was also in devastating form, ending the pretensions of another local star Shakeela Qureshi 6-0, 6-1.

Top seed Amita Ardurpragasm the tall 14-year-old from Sri Lanka, was awarded a walkover when her opponent Aly Zehra Mehdi arrived late. Third seed Alisha Talwar was also in fine fettle, breezing past Shabana Khanam 6-0, 6-0. Sara Mansoor sounded out a stiff warning to the seeded players crashing her way into the second round with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Rabia Parveen.

Also going through to the second round was Bashir Tayyaba, a 6-2, 6-2, victor over Faiza Akhtar. Ayesha Haroon, accounting for Mehvish Zaman 6-0, 6-2, and Anila Mamona defeated Faiza Hashmi.

In the girls' doubles, the top seeds Arudupragasm and Yee Chit Su had little opposition from Mehvish Zaman and Tayyaba Bashir. The same could be said about the second seeded Indian pair of Alisha Talwar and Inayat, who beat Anila Mamona and Faiza Hashmi.

Through to the next round were Sara Mansoor and Aly Zehra Mehdi who got the better of Shakeela Qureshi and Shabana Khanam. Also through were Naima Mukhtar and Rabia Parveen who had an easy passage into the next round with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ayesha Haroon and Faiza Akhtar.

In the juniors singles, India's lanky Gursher Harika beat Ali Amir Khan 6-2, 6-4. The youngest pair on court 13-year-old Ghulam Abbas Panju and 14-year-old Nasir Mushtaq were indeed a formidable pair, blowing out the sails of Ahmad Hassan and Arif Mateen 6-3, 6-2 in the junior doubles.

Nasir excelled with his powerful service and many aces while Ghulam not to be left behind, lent a helping hand with his drop shot volleys which earned plenty of points for the youngsters.

Ali Asghar Bandeali and Daniyal Alvi receiving setbacks in their respective singles matches, made amends by beating Jawad Gardez and Changez Afridi 7-6, 6-4 in a very close encounter. Also stretched to the limits were Abdullah Ali and Mohammad Haris Iltifat, who beat Mubashir Afridi and Sher Rehman 7-5, 6-4.

The Indian pair of Gursher Harika and Rajkanwar Singh also had to battle hard before overcoming stiff resistance from Tanveer Ashiq and Yasir Khan 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

The Indian-Canadian combination of Vijit Seghal and Neil Rajpal won their opening set against Myanmar's Nyi Nyi Tun and Zaw Khaw Naing without dropping a game. But they really struggled in the second when the Myanmar pair came fighting back before losing the set and match 6-4. In the last match of the day, promising Danish Ahmed and Ejaz Usman beat the Pakistan-Indian combination of Rizwan Khan and Shiva Sangwan 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
