SIALKOT, Sept 23: Five dacoits looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs150,000 from the house of a farmer at Jhariyaanwala Begowala village in Daska late Wednesday night.

They also thrashed Muhammad Shafique's family members on putting up resistance. The dacoits fled firing in the air. Begowala police have registered a case, but yet to arrest the suspects so far. Meanwhile, five armed persons, assisted by two women, abducted labourer Muhammad Asghar's daughter from her house at Verowala village. Police have registered a case.

KIDNAPPED: A local industrialist was kidnapped for ransom from Lorry Adda here on Thursday. The family of Naseer Ahmed told the Civil Lines police that the kidnappers had made several telephone calls and demanded Rs1 million as ransom for the release of the industrialist.

The police have registered a case with no arrest or recovery till the filing of this report.
