LAHORE, Sept 20: Stage is set for the stormy annual elections of eight executive committee members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday.
The Founders and (Pakistan Industrial Associations Front) PIAF-Founders are contesting the election for the control of the premier chamber representing over 15,000 businessmen and industrialists of the provincial metropolis.
PIAF-Founders Group nominee Muhammad Yousaf has been elected on the single trade group executive committee seat unopposed. As many as 1,116 chamber class members will elect four EC members on Tuesday (today).
Eight candidates- Mian Shafqat Ali, Kashif Younas, Majid Abdullah, Sheikh Muhammad Younais, Tariq Mahmood, Muhammad Waiq, Muhammad Nasir Malik, Sheikh Aneesur Rehman are contesting for four chamber class seats of the LCCI executive body.
Four associate class executive committee members will be elected by 8,430 voters on Wednesday (tomorrow). Thirteen candidates - Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Vohra, Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Faisal Iqbal Sheikh, Ali Asghar Malik, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Mian Awais Afzaal, Munawar Javed Awan, Karamat Ali Awan, Muhammad Asif, Sheikh Ahmed Mujtaba, Sajid Aziz Mir and Rizwan Akhtar are contesting for the four seats.
