KARACHI: Woman among three killed

KARACHI, Sept 6: Three persons, including a woman, were killed in different areas on Monday. Police said that a woman was shot dead by armed men in Keamari.

They said that Gulshan Khan, 40, widow of Bazeb Khan, was returning home in Bhutta Village when unknown men opened fire at her and fled. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

According to the police, she was the owner of Khushboo Centre, located in Keamari. Police said that her husband, Bazeb Khan, was also killed in the same manner a few years back. Police suspected some property dispute as a possible motive behind the murder.

In Khokhrapar, a young man was stabbed to death near his residence. The body of Muzaffar Khan, 25, was recovered near his residence on early Monday morning. Police shifted the body to the JPMC for post-mortem.

In Jacob lines, a labourer was killed allegedly by his cousin. Police said that Mudasir Khan, 30, a labourer used to work at a brick-making plant in Jacob lines, where he was allegedly killed by his cousin identified as Mohammad Alam. The body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy. According to the police, the victim hailed from Bajor Agency.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons died in road accidents in different parts of the city on Monday. A speeding minibus of route (G-3) knocked down a university student, Mohammad Jamia, 30, on University Road.

Police said the seriously injured student was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Later, his body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities. The minibus driver was taken into custody by the police.

In PECHS, a young man was knocked down by a speeding trailer. Police said that Azhar Husain, 25, was on motorcycle when a speeding trailer knocked him down to death.

ROBBERY: Two armed men snatched a cellular phone from an employee of Dawn on Monday night. Furqan Moin was going to office in his car when two motorcyclists intercepted him near Park Towers in Clifton. At gunpoint, they snatched his cellular phone and fled.
