GUJRAT, Sept 5: Two nominated accused of the Haqiqa abduction for ransom case were allegedly killed in an encounter with the Kharian Circle police in Rakh Pabbi Sarkar Hills near Dhau on Sunday.

A police spokesman told Dawn that the police had been tipped-off about the presence of some nominated accused of the Haqiqa case at a shrine in the hilly area. He said a heavy police contingent led by Kharian DSP Raja Riaz and Sadar SHO Javed Aslam Malhi reached the spot and besieged the area. The outlaws opened fire on police which was returned.

The crossfire that continued for more than an hour left the two outlaws dead. They were later identified as POs Asjad Mahmood alias Acha Bomb of Randheer village and Ejaz Ahmad alias Bijli of Sada Chak village.

He said the police also recovered a Kalashnikov and an 8mm rifle besides a huge quantity of cartridges from the site of the encounter. The deceased POs along with their accomplices had kidnapped a woman of an influential family in Haqiqa village and later set her to liberty allegedly after taking Rs1.5 million as ransom. They were also wanted by other police stations in a number of cases of heinous nature.

WRONG TREATMENT: Wrong medication and treatment provided by doctors and paramedical staff at the Government Maternity Hospital has disabled a woman while her infant inflicted injuries.

In an application submitted to the EDO (Health) and the DHO, complainant Abid Hussain of Dina Chak village had alleged that doctors and the staff conducted a caesarean operation of his wife Bushra without his permission.

He further alleged that the newly-born baby inflicted severe injuries on his face, head and neck due to the negligence of the staff. The complainant said that he had to admit his wife and the baby to a private hospital where his wife was even unable to stand on her feet. He demanded stern action against the staff responsible for the negligence.
