LARKANA, Aug 29: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro at a meeting here on Sunday directed officials to visit schools regularly and ensure attendance of staff and students.

She criticized the role of various associations of teachers in Sindh and said they had indulged themselves in unnecessary unionism in educational institutions. Ms Khuhro said if any teacher was found not performing duty, he or she would be dealt strictly.

She directed the EDO education to submit a report about the problems of educational institutions so that they could be addressed systematically.

DCO Razaque Qureshi briefed the meeting about different development programmes being executed under the ADP, the Drought Emergency Relief Assistance, the KPP phase-IV programme.

He said some 425 watercourses were being cemented in the district and the work on the scheme would take off in December this year.

The minister directed the DCO to submit a detail report about uncultivated land with the recommendations of granting remission in the land revenue and other dues. She said tail-end growers have right to get irrigation water for sowing their crops.
