KARACHI, Aug 29: The caretaker of a Mazar was killed and his associate was injured when unknown persons opened fire at them in Dalmia graveyard on Sunday morning.

Police said that Mohammad Haroon, 50, and his associate Afzal, both caretakers of Syed Naseeruddin Kamal Shah Baba's Mazar, located inside the Dalmia graveyard, suffered bullet wounds when unknown persons barged into the premises and opened fire at them. The injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Haroon was pronounced dead on arrival, while Afzal was provided treatment.

ACCIDENT: An employee of the city government died in a road accident at Shahrah-i-Qaideen on Sunday. Police said that Illyas, 45, was knocked down by a speeding Metro coach. The police arrested the vehicle's driver, Aslam Gul. The victim was an employee of the Jamshad Town administration.

DROWNS: Body of a fisherman was washed ashore near the Natives' Jetty on Sunday. The victim was identified as Naseeb Jan, 22. A fishing boat had capsized about 10 days back, and two fishermen had drowned. The body of the other fisherman could not be recovered. The body of Naseeb was shifted to Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
