KARACHI, Aug 22: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, taking notice of hindrance in the flow of traffic due to the setting up of inter-city bus terminals elsewhere across the city. has issued directive for their early shifting to ensure a smooth vehicular movement and ease out rush on various roads.

This was stated by the governor's Principal Secretary, Brig (r) Akhtar Zamin who chaired a meeting, attended by senior officials of the concerned departments, here on Sunday.

The meeting decided that the Model Bus Depot be handed over to the city government after removing all hurdles in its operation. It noted that the CDGK had already completed arrangements to make essential facilities available at the depot.

PEACE IN VARSITIES: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Sunday underlined the need for maintaining peaceful and pleasant academic environment in the educational institutions.

According to a handout, he asked all political and student organizations to avoid indulging in any activity that could endanger the peaceful atmosphere of educational institution.

The governor, who is also chancellor of the public sector universities, directed all vice-chancellors to maintain a strict check on such activities. Universities, being centres of teaching and research, provided strong foundation for progress and development of any country or nation. He also directed them to allocate one per cent quota in every university for sportsmen. The quota, he added, should be allocated on general equity basis. -APP
