KARACHI, May 23: Bandits shot a shopkeeper and a security guard to death in the city on Thursday.

The police said that Mohammed Nadeem, aged 27, owner of a grocery store, was opening his shop on Shaikh Abdul Rasheed Road in Kalri, Lyari, in the morning, when two unidentified men held him at gunpoint. As the shopkeeper tried to put up resistance to the bandits, they opened fire on him and escaped.

Nadeem was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Bandits shot a guard of a private security agency to death in Soldier Bazaar.

A vehicle of a private distribution company, was carrying cash and goods. When it stopped at Love Lane traffic signal, armed men, travelling in another vehicle, opened fire on security guard Ghulam Mohammed 50, and driver Bakht Khan, and escaped after snatching about Rs200,000 from cashier Ghulam died in hospital.
