KARACHI, Aug 3: The University of Karachi has approved to award of DLitt, PhD and MPhil degrees to 13 students. The approval was granted at a meeting of Advanced Studies and Research Board of Karachi University , held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui on Tuesday.

The meeting held Dr Syed Vaqar Ahmed Rizvi from Urdu Department of Karachi University eligible for award of DLitt degree. Seven students were held eligible for award of PhD degree and five others for MPhil degree.

For award of PhD degree, names of the students are: Abdul Wahab Soori from Philosophy Department, Shama Nasim from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, Nargis Yousuf from Zoology Department, Samina Noor Ali from Microbiology Department, Akram Ali Shah from Physics Department, Suraiya Shameel from Urdu Department and M. Iqbal from Public Administration Department.

For award of MPhil degree, names of the students are: Shabir Ali from Marine Biology Department, Mohsin Husnain Ahmed from Institute of Applied Economics, Huma Dilshad from Pharmaceutics Department, Abdul Wahab from Pharmacology Department and Mutiur Rehman from Zoology Department of Karachi University.

SYNDICATE: The elections for syndicate members of Karachi University from the constituency of university teachers will be held at arts auditorium on Wednesday from 9:30am to 1pm.

One professor, an associate professor, an assistant professor and a lecturer would be elected by the university teachers as members of the syndicate, a KU notification stated on Tuesday. - PPI
