KARACHI, July 25: An auditor of a private firm was shot dead by an unidentified man in North Nazimabad on Sunday.

Police said that a man came to the house of Islamul Haq, 50, and asked for the victim from the boy who opened the door. The man also entered the house, along with the boy who went inside to inform inmates about arrival of a 'guest.'

The suspect shot Mr Islamul Haq, who was reading a newspaper, sitting in his chair, the police added. The police said the killer escaped from the scene, leaving the victim's family in a state of shock. The police suspected some professional discord as a possible motive behind the killing.

ACCIDENT: A driver of a pickup truck died in a road accident at Water Pump traffic section at Sharah-i-Pakistan on Sunday. Police said that a trailer (LSA-5996) hit the truck (KB-9104), laden with vegetables, killing its driver Mohammad Yousaf on the spot. The police arrested the errant driver.

BOY DIES: A 13-year-old boy, Munna, died in a hit-and-run accident in Bilal Colony, Korangi Industrial Area, on Sunday. The boy died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination.

ARRESTED: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four suspects in two separate incidents of motorcycle snatching in different parts of the city. Two armed suspects who were trying to snatch a motorcycle from Riaz near Tanga Stand, Rainbow Centre, Saddar, were apprehended by the people, who roughed them up before handing them over to the police.

The police claimed to have recovered two pistols from the suspects, who were identified as Zahid and Mansoor. In another incident near Aisha Bawani College at Sharae Faisal, two suspects were arrested by the police after an alleged exchange of fire.

The police claimed that the suspects were trying to snatch a motorcycle (RNB-8672) from its owner, when a police party spotted them. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire and tried to fled. The police returned the fire, wounding one of the suspects, identified as Ahsanullah, while his accomplice Zakir was also arrested.
