KARACHI , July 21: The adviser to chief minister on environment and alternate energy, Noman Saigol, will soon constitute a team in order to reduce the increasing poor hygienic conditions in water treatment plants and to ensure supply of pure drinking water to people.

Chairing a meeting at his office on Wednesday, the adviser said that he would visit all the plants from which drinking water was supplied to different cities.

"The environment department has made a plan in collaboration with other departments to ensure clean water supply to people. Due to lack of any such plan, many lives had been lost in Hyderabad," he added.

He ordered the officials concerned to take prompt action to ensure supply of pure drinking water in the province. He appealed public to take care of canals, ponds and extend their cooperation to government to save them from pollution. He also urged city governments representatives to help for achieving these goals.

He warned that if issuance of false fitness certificate was not stopped the government would consider to hand over this responsibility to private sector, so that pollution could be controlled. - PPI
