LARKANA, July 19: Members of the district council on Monday criticized the police for not recovering the kidnapped trader, Santosh Kumar.

Speaking during the special session of the council called to discuss the law and order, they said kidnappings, highway robberies, burglaries and motor snatching had become the order of the day in the district.

They said some policemen were maintaining connections with outlaws. They said raids on the houses of three police inspectors in the kidnapping case of Santosh Kumar were enough proof in this connection.

The members pointed out that some criminals were visiting the Nasirabad police station and have access to the police wireless system which they use for information. They said that frequent transfers of honest police officials had disturbed law and order in the district.

Ghulam Nabi Memon, Dr Amir Shaikh and Sultan Khwaja had improved the situation but their stay was very short, they regretted. They said the kidnapping of Santosh Kumar had generated a wave of insecurity among Hindus and there was need for concrete efforts to rectify the situation.

Moenjodaro union council nazim Muhib Pirzado and Badah-II union council nazim Athar Abbas Solangi recalled high profile burglary of 41 original seals and artifacts from the Moenjodaro Museum.

Mr Solangi claimed that he had identified the houses of burglars in Badah town and urged the police to conduct raids but in vain. They urged the SP investigation to reopen the case to recover precious objects of the Indus valley civilization.

SP investigation Agha Tahir claimed that characters behind the kidnapping of Santosh Kumar had been identified and he would be recovered soon. He said it was true that houses of police inspectors and SHOs were raided, suspecting their close relatives were involved in the kidnapping of the trader.

Mr Agha conceded the charges regarding the Nasirabad police station and assured the session that of action against police officials having connections with outlaws. He sought cooperation of elected representatives to fight against outlaws.
