SUKKUR, May 22: More than a dozen people sustained injuries when a devastating fire gutted 26 houses in two adjacent villages near Kashmor late Tuesday.

After turning each and every article in all the structures built in the village to ashes the blaze engulfed livestock before playing havoc in the neighbouring village of Lakhmir Golo where more houses were gutted.

Firefighters failed to respond to the villagers’ SOS calls promptly.

The affected villagers said that all of their cash, belongings, livestock and food stocks were turned into ashes and they were rendered homeless by the blaze.
