ISLAMABAD, May 22: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday condoled the tragic murder of prominent Kashmiri leader, Abdul Gani Lone with his son Sajjad Ahmed Lone.

The President on Wednesday addressed the following message of condolence to Sajjad Ahmad Lone:

“Dear Mr Sajjad Ahmad Lone, I was deeply shocked to learn about the cold-blooded and tragic murder of your distinguished father, Abdul Gani Lone. The late Mr Lone was an outspoken proponent of Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and made a major contribution to the freedom movement in the occupied Kashmir. Kashmir has lost one of its most illustrious sons while Pakistan has lost a sincere friend.

“My government strongly condemns this reprehensible act of terrorism and hopes that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be apprehended and brought to justice.

“May Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant you and other members of your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”—APP
