SHIKARPUR, July 16: An outlaw has been killed and a minor girl injured in an exchange of fire between police and bandits near the Misali village, four kilometres off Garhi Yasin.

The DPO said police arrested six wanted bandits, Baz Mohammad Brohi, Mohammad Brohi, Yaqoob Brohi, Rahib Brohi, Lal Bukhsh Brohi and Mustafa Brohi, and seized five kalashnikovs, one shotgun, one stolen Datsun and one motorcycle.

The outlaw killed was identified as Shabbir Brohi. The 10-year-old injured girl, Panah Khatoon, daughter of Hakim Ali Mahar, was taken to the Shikarpur Civil Hospital.

Police had raided a graveyard near the Misali village after receiving information that Baz Mohammad Brohi and some other outlaws were attending the burial of their relative. On seeing the police party, the accused opened fire which was returned by police.

The DPO told this correspondent on Friday that two FIRs had been registered against the arrested bandits under sections 324, 303, 148 and 149, PPC, and 13D of the Arms Ordinance.
